Literacy Leaders: Annual Professional Development Conference
The Literacy Leaders professional development conference is hosted collaboratively with the National Writing Project at Shepherd, the Jefferson County Reading Council, and the Shepherd University School of Education. This full day event includes a keynote address by a guest speaker, poster sessions, and a full day of workshops on various literacy teaching strategies. Four ‘strands’ of workshops highlight instruction for pre-k/k, elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
Teachers, teacher candidates, and community members interested in literacy instruction throughout the four-state area are encouraged to attend.

The Shepherd University Division of Graduate Studies Office of Continuing Education offers a credit option for participating teachers seeking non-degree graduate credits for re-certification. In addition to attending the conference, participants in this option complete projects applying conference learning to the classroom and must set up an account and register for the course.
