Fines
INTERLIBRARY LOANS
A $1.00/day fine is charged for each overdue interlibrary loan item. Fines accrue per item with no maximum charge.
Once the item has been returned to the library, fines must be paid at the Business Office in Ikenberry Hall (304)-876-5284 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Patrons must request a form at the Public Services desk to take to the Business Office indicating the amount due. The Business Office will sign and stamp the form confirming payment. The patron must return the signed form to the Public Services desk so a desk attendant can update the patron’s library account to ‘paid.’
Acceptable forms of payment include Shepherd University ID (Rambler), cash, check, or credit/debit card.
If the interlibrary loan item is lost or damaged, contact the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, Patrick Weber (304)-876-5691, for the replacement cost, which the lending library determines.
LOST OR DAMAGED SCARBOROUGH LIBRARY MATERIALS
Patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of lost or damaged library materials. The replacement charge for all library materials is the current price of the particular item, plus an additional $15.00 processing fee. Contact the library at (304)876-5421 for the replacement charges, which must be paid at the Business Office in Ikenberry Hall during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

SUSPENSION OF LIBRARY PRIVILEGES
Patrons with overdue or lost/damaged items are prohibited from further borrowing. Class registration is blocked, and transcripts will not be released until all financial obligations are met. The library hold will be released once the student has returned all overdue items and paid all outstanding library fines and fees. Students should allow one business day to release a hold after all fines and fees have been paid.
Renewals
Patrons may sign in to My Library Account to renew items before the due date.
To renew items that have reached or exceeded the due date, patrons must contact the Public Services desk during regular operating hours either in person or by phone at 304-876-5421.
Returns
Library items may be returned to the Public Services desk or deposited in the outside book drop when the building is closed.
Hold Requests
Patrons may place a hold on an item that is checked out to another patron. Log into My Library Account to search for the item record in WorldCat Discovery, click on the title, then select ‘Place Hold.’ For items not checked out, you can retrieve the item yourself or choose the title from the catalog and click ‘Place Hold.’ A library staff member will retrieve the item for you. You will receive an email notification when the item is available for pick-up at the Public Services desk.
