SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Music is hosting its annual Big Band Holiday Gala concert on Saturday,December 5, at 7:30 p.m., with a family matinee performance on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. Both performances will take place in the Frank Center Theater. The concert will feature Shepherd’s Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Women’s Camerata, Men’s Choir, and Concert Choir performingclassics from the Big Band era, as well as modern works.
The Sunday matinee will include extra activities for children and their families. In addition to the concert performance, there will be a sing-along led by Dr. Rob Tudor, music department chair, an instrument “petting zoo” for all ageshosted by Shepherd’s music fraternities, Eta Tau Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota and Xi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and a special guest appearance by Santa Claus.
Admission for the Holiday Gala concert is $10 for the general public; $5 for Shepherd faculty, staff, seniors, active-duty military, and those 18 and under; and free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID. There will be a special reception for Shepherd University music alumni following the Saturday evening performance.
