Before You Arrive:
- Be sure you have access to your Shepherd email & have checked messages from Residence Life.
- Still packing? Check out our What to Pack guide. Only Potomac Place has an elevator, so please pack thoughtfully in containers that are easier to move.
- Plan when to arrive:
- Returning Students: Sign up for a check-in timeslot on the Good Living Portal. Move-in for returning students occurs Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25 during designated hours.
- New Students: No need to sign-up for a check-in time if you are arriving on Thursday, August 22. Simply arrive during the time frame identified below according to your room location. The first number of your room assignment indicates the floor you will live on; for example, room 214 is located on the second floor.
- Early Arrival Students:
- Football student athletes: Arrives on Saturday, August 10 – check in with the team at the Butcher Center first and then move into a temporary space for team camp. Move to permanent fall placement on Thursday, August 15
- Resident Assistants: Check-in at your building on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11
- A-Team leaders: Check-in at Miller Hall on Sunday, August 11: 10am – noon
- Volleyball, women’s soccer, and men’s soccer student athletes: on Saturday, August 17 go to the Butcher Center before checking into the halls.
- Band members: Check-in at your assigned building on Saturday, August 17: 9am – 11am
- L.E.A.D.S. participants: Check-in at your building on Sunday, August 18: 10am – noon
- Find and hold onto your Rambler ID card – you’ll need it for check-in.
- If you don’t have your Rambler, get a new card at the Wellness Center FIRST before checking in.

Move-In Instructions:
- Keep your Rambler in an easy to find spot
- Once your move-in time arrives, arrive at your assigned residence hall and park in the nearby unloading zone
- With your Rambler, head to the check-in station for your residence hall (follow signs)
- Speak with our staff who will check you in and update your Rambler
- Unload your vehicle and move all cars to H-Lot for extended parking
- Move your belongings into your room and unpack – welcome home! Only Potomac Place has an elevator.
