SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The final concert of the 2022-2023 Shepherd University Music Salon Series will feature a faculty trio—violinist Heather Austin-Stone, cellist Camilo Peréz-Mejía, and pianist Yu-Hsuan Liao—in an exploration of some intriguing piano trio repertoire that expresses our sense of time and how a season, a day, or just a morning can last both an instant and a lifetime. The free performance, sponsored by Jefferson Security Bank, “Relative Time,” will take place on Thursday, April 6, at  7:30 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center W.H. Shipley Recital Hall.

The program will include Lili Boulanger’s “D’un matin de printemps” (“Of a Spring Morning”) and “D’un soir triste” (“Of a Sad Evening”),  Astor Piazzolla’s “Las cuatro estaciones porteñas” (“The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires”), and a lesser-known work by Germaine Tailleferre.

Liao, associate professor of music and the coordinator of keyboard studies, is also a piano soloist and collaborative artist. She has expanded her repertoire in instrumental, chamber, vocal, and choral music in various styles and periods. She worked with “American Repertory Ensemble” and performed piano solo, chamber, and accompanied vocal music in the company’s performance series.

Austin-Stone, adjunct music faculty, is currently the concertmaster of the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra, assistant concertmaster with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and a first violinist with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. She is one of the founding members of the Shenandoah Virtuosi String Quartet, which has made a CD and performs regularly for weddings and other functions.

Camilo Pérez-Mejía, adjunct music faculty, currently serves as principal cellist for the National String Symphonia and assistant principal of Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. He serves as the music director and conductor of the Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra and the Shepherd University Community Orchestra.
