SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University and Lackawanna College, a private, accredited college in Pennsylvania, have signed a transfer agreement that will offer students who transfer to Shepherd directly from Lackawanna a 25 percent tuition discount provided they have earned an associate degree and possess a cumulative grade point average of 2.8.

“I’m very excited to be partnering with Lackawanna College,” said Kristen Lorenz, Shepherd’s director of admissions. “This new agreement will add a pathway for students to benefit from two excellent educations: beginning at Lackawanna and ending at Shepherd. Students will benefit from having advisement from Shepherd counselors during their time at Lackawanna to ensure a seamless transition into a bachelor’s program.”

Students who qualify for the transfer admissions tuition discount will receive it for a maximum of six semesters, as long as they enroll full time with at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8. In addition to this tuition discount, students can apply for merit and need-based financial aid and scholarships. Students with a 3.5 GPA can apply for Shepherd’s Scholars Program, with benefits that may include honors housing and honors scholarships.

“We are very pleased to partner with Shepherd and provide Lackawanna College students with more opportunities to continue their education,” said Jeff Gregory, Lackawanna College director of admissions. “We are always looking to work with other higher education institutions to ensure that the transfer process is as smooth and straightforward as possible.”

Lorenz said Shepherd hopes to work with Lackawanna to establish 2+2 agreements in the near future.
