Transfer Admission Requirements
- At least 24 earned college-level credits from accredited institutions.
- A 2.0 cumulative college GPA from all previously attempted coursework. Select disciplines at Shepherd (including Nursing, Education, and Social Work) have additional admission requirements.
- If you have fewer than 24 earned college-level credits, a high school transcript/diploma equivalent is required. If you graduated from high school within the past five years, any available ACT/SAT scores are strongly recommended.
- Applicants must be in good standing and eligible to return to all former institutions.
Application Process
1. Choose your program of study. Students transferring with more than 30 credits must declare a major.
2. Submit your application online and pay the $45 application fee.
3. Submit all official* college transcripts from each institution previously attended. Submit your high school transcript/diploma equivalency and any available ACT/SAT scores if you’ve completed less than 24 college credits. Application materials can be sent to:

*Please note: Official transcripts must be sent in their original sealed and signature-stamped envelope or electronically sent from the issuing institution directly to Shepherd University. Printed transcripts that have been opened or scanned and electronic transcripts that are forwarded are considered unofficial.

Transferring College Credit
Shepherd University will transfer all college-level credits from regionally accredited schools; however, a maximum of 72 credits from community colleges and 90 credits from four-year institutions can be applied towards a degree. At least 30 credit hours must be completed at Shepherd to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Several weeks post-admission, transfer students who have submitted all official transcripts will receive an official degree evaluation showing how their credits transferred and are applied to their major. Students transferring from a partner community college can look up course equivalents using our transfer equivalency tool (TES) below.
