Apply to Shepherd
Returning students
Also referred to as readmitted students, returning students are those who previously attended Shepherd and either took a hiatus from their education or attended another university after their time at Shepherd.
Students In Good Standing
Students who take courses at another institution without prior approval, or who are absent from studies for more than two consecutive regular semesters (not including summer sessions), must re-apply through the Office of Admissions. The Fall application deadline is August 15th.
Students in good academic standing who must discontinue their studies for a brief time will be considered eligible to re-enroll in future semesters, as long as they return after no more than two consecutive regular semesters (not including summer sessions) and do not take courses at another institution during that time without prior approval from the university. For procedures to take courses with permission during a time of absence, see Transferring Courses (for enrolled students).
Students wishing to return after absence, and who do not need to re-apply through the Office of Admissions, should check the Class Schedule for advisement dates and make an appointment with their advisor.
Students on Probation/Suspension
Students who left on academic probation or suspension and sat out for the designated number of semesters must reapply for admission to the University by:
August 1 for Fall admission
December 1 for Spring admission
Upon reapplying to Shepherd, a meeting with a representative from the Advising Assistance Center must be completed before an admissions decision can be made.
Applying for Readmission:
- Complete the application for admission here.
- Submit a brief statement of activities since last enrolled at Shepherd University.
