SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Master storyteller Lyn Ford will present a program titled “Affrilachian Haints and Hauntings” at Shepherd University Tuesday, October 29, at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies at 7 p.m. as part of the Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence Project with Frank X Walker. The program is sponsored by the Shepherd University Appalachian Studies Program and the West Virginia Humanities Council.
Lyn Ford, a fourth-generation Affrilachian storyteller, is a teaching artist with the Ohio Alliance of Arts Education. Her work is recognized by the Kennedy Center, and she is a Thurber House mentor. Her award-winning books and recordings have been recognized for their brilliance and heart-warming style. Her book “Affrilachian Tales: Folktales from the African-American Appalachian Tradition” has been called “beautifully written, warm, funny and full of wisdom.”
