SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — A lecture by Shepherd alumnus Ben Schonberger on his exhibit, “Beautiful Pig,” at Shepherd University’s Phaze 2 Gallery has been changed to Monday, October 23, at 6 p.m. in the Center for Contemporary Arts Phase I, room 112.
Schonberger’s lecture will take place during the opening reception for the exhibit, which is on October 23 from 4-7 p.m. in the gallery. “Beautiful Pig” will be on exhibit from October 23-November 17. The opening reception, lecture, and exhibit are free and open to the public.
“Beautiful Pig” is based on Schonberger’s first book, which was published in 2014. It focuses on photographs and memorabilia collected by former Detroit police officer Marty Gaynor during the late 20th century. Schonberger selected and arranged the photos and other documents, then had Gaynor write comments about them.
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, noon-7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; or by special request. For more information, visit www.shepherd.edu/art/phaze-2-gallery, or contact Evan Boggess at eboggess@shepherd.edu.
