SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Phaze 2 Gallery will host an exhibit by Philadelphia artist Marcelle Reinecke titled “This Bed is an Ocean” March 19-April 10. An artist talk is scheduled on Monday, March 26, from 4-5 p.m. followed by a reception from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit, talk, and reception are free and open to the public
Reinecke said the body of work in the exhibit, which includes painting and sculpture, is about relationships and the complexities of domestic life.
Reinecke earned her M.F.A. from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She spent time abroad, studying painting and sculpture at Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy. She completed an artist residency at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, awarded by the Glasgow School of Art in conjunction with the Royal Drawing School. Reinecke is a former member of AUTOMAT gallery. She currently works as a studio assistant for the design firm BDDW.
Phaze 2 Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, noon–7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., or by special request.
