SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Women for Shepherd University, in conjunction with the Shepherd University Foundation, will host a metal pour and art exhibit on Saturday, October 20, at 2 p.m. at the FASTEnER Lab located in the Center for Contemporary Arts II. The FASTEnER Lab is an interdisciplinary fabrication space located in rooms 125 and 126.
Alumna Alyssa Imes, creator of the newly installed monarch butterfly sculpture located in Popodicon’s historic garden, will conduct a metal pour with her self-built iron casting furnace. Imes, who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture, has shown her work regionally throughout West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The metal pour will be in conjunction with a tour of the lab, which will feature an exhibit showcasing pieces in Imes’s series “Looming Connections,” as well as works from other members of her team.
Admission to the event is $25 and includes a scratch block and metal casting keepsake. A reception will be provided.
