SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The first annual Eastern Panhandle Literature Fair took place at Shepherd University on October 27. The event was sponsored by Shepherd’s Department of Education, Division of Graduate Studies, and the West Virginia Reading Association. More than 40 students in grades 1-8 registered to participate in the event, which was kicked off by Dr. Scott Beard, Shepherd provost. Children who participated are eligible to participate in the West Virginia Literacy Conference, which will take place at the Greenbrier Resort on November 15 and 16. Beard is pictured (center back) with some student participants.
