SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War is hosting a presentation by Shepherd alumnus Kevin Pawlak on his new book, “Antietam National Battlefield” (Arcadia Publishing, 2019). The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education auditorium. Books will be available for signing and sale.
Pawlak is a historic site manager for the Prince William County Virginia Historic Preservation Division and serves as a certified battlefield guide at Antietam National Battlefield and Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. He previously worked at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Pawlak is on the board of directors for the Shepherdstown Battlefield Preservation Association, the Save Historic Antietam Foundation, and the Friends of the Ball’s Bluff and is a regular contributor to the Emerging Civil War online blog. He is currently working on a study of George B. McClellan and the Army of the Potomac in the Maryland Campaign.
