SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Sociology, Criminology, and Criminal Justice is hosting a Criminal Justice Lecture Series talk Wednesday, October 9, at 11 a.m. in White Hall room 104, the Jefferson Room, featuring United States Capitol Police Sgt. Jillian Jeffers, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities of working in law enforcement. The event is free and open to the public.
Jeffers, who joined the U.S. Capitol Police in 2005, has served in a variety of mission-driven roles. She has served as the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA) accreditation manager for the department, coordinating the CALEA on-site assessments that led to successful accreditation. She also served on the First Responder Unit, Patrol Mobile Response Division, and was detailed to the office of the chief administrative officer to serve as a liaison for congressional support on policy development. Her career accomplishments include serving on the 58th Presidential Inaugural Task Force, and working as a police officer recruiter. She is currently assigned to the Training Services Bureau, where she helps train and support recruits at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Cheltenham, Maryland.
