Our Town Auditions: August 28, 2024
The Contemporary Theatre Studies Program announces auditions for Thornton Wilder’s Our Town on Wednesday, August 28 from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm in the Marinoff Theater in Shepherd University’s Center for the Contemporary Arts. Auditionees may attend whichever time works best for their schedules. No appointments are necessary. Callbacks will be held Thursday, August 29 from 7pm-9pm.
The artistic team seeks 12-21 actors and actresses of all ages, genders, races, and cultural backgrounds. Musicians, baseball players, and community members are particularly encouraged to audition. Our Town includes roles of all sizes; those with all levels of theater experience are welcome.
Rehearsals will begin in September and run Monday – Thursday from 3:30-6:30pm, with some weekends and evenings approaching opening night. Performance dates are November 1-3 and 8-10.
Theatre majors must prepare a 60-second monologue, and are expected to bring headshots & resumes to the audition; others may choose to bring materials if they have them. Non-majors and community members may prepare a monologue, a short reading from a text of their choice, or use the provided readings from the play script.
In Wilder’s timeless tale of a small town, a stage manager narrates the daily lives of its locals … and sets the stage for magnificent truths of what it means to be alive. (Our Town on Broadway)
