SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University is offering a Human Trafficking Awareness Month viewing of the documentary “I Am Jane Doe” on Thursday, January 30, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education auditorium. The documentary will be followed by a discussion with an expert from the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center. The event is free and open to the public.
“I Am Jane Doe” follows the cases of middle and high school age girls who were trafficked for sex. Their mothers waged a legal battle against Backpage.com, and a U.S. Senate investigation ensued. The event is sponsored by Shepherd’s Office of Social Equity, Inclusion, and Title IX and the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center.
