SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Scarborough Library has been recognized by OCLC, a global library cooperative, for providing exceptional Interlibrary Loan (ILL) lending service of electronic resources to other libraries, and as a result is now invited to participate in the newly created Express ILL program.
Membership in the Express program is offered to the top 10 percent of OCLC libraries that meet the high standard of consistently delivering articles and other digital resources within 18 hours or less to the OCLC network of more than 10,000 libraries. Express gives exclusive access to its member libraries and, in turn, Scarborough Library can provide speedier document delivery times to student and faculty borrowers. The turnaround period from time of request to receipt of a digital item can be as little as an average of 10 to 18 hours at no additional cost to the patron or the institution. Express is the fastest way to get articles for users.
Patrick Weber, coordinator of interlibrary loan, is credited with his efforts in successfully borrowing and lending more than 1,000 items per year for Shepherd students and faculty.
