School of Nursing hosts White Coat Ceremony

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVThe School of Nursing hosted a White Coat Ceremony on February 10 for undergraduate students entering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program who are entering their final two years in the program. The keynote speaker was Sharon N. Rigney, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, vice president of​​​ nursing operations and professional practice for Valley Health.

The 37 students who received white coats this semester include Katelyn Aaron, Lauren Alt, Abigail Byers, Audree Carpenter, Brittany Carr, Morgan Defriece, Paola Del Valle Suarez, Brandon Dew, Lillian Funke, Adrianna Garner, Maggie Gregory, Angelina Guzman, Samantha Hepner, Kylie Inners, Aminata Jalloh, Robert Jernigan, Erica Keplinger, Davis Kiernan, Jessica Lidbeck, Emma Lynch, Mia McCormick, Michaela Nelson, Wendy Orozco, Ryleigh Palmer, Sophie Pell, Whitney Reynolds, Liliana Romero, Melissa Tartt, Allison Tippett, Emalee Travagline, Madison Unger, Shannon Vernick, Destinee Vorous, Simon Waldron, Geri Weese, Amelia Wilcox, and Gracie Zimmerman.  

The Arnold P. Gold Foundation created the White Coat Ceremony for  students in medical, nursing, and physician assistant programs to emphasize compassionate, collaborative, scientifically excellent care from the very first day of training in the healthcare professions. The School of Nursing has been hosting White Coat Ceremonies since 2014.
