The Shepherd University School of Music program provides the opportunity for area musicians of all ages and experience levels to take private lessons, also known as applied lessons, through our Community Music at Shepherd. Students may receive private instruction from qualified Shepherd music students, Shepherd alumni, and adjunct faculty or full time faculty members. Students may study on a weekly basis throughout the school year and summer. Students also have the opportunity to study music theory, composition, or improvisation with a private instructor, if available, through this program. Recitals are presented for the public at the end of each semester in Shipley Recital Hall.
For Prospective Students and re-enrolling private students:
Please complete the registration form and mail to Shepherd University Community Music, P.O. Box 5000, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, or email communitymusic@shepherd.edu. New and current private music students must pay a $25 registration fee per semester, $15 per summer to remain enrolled in our program. Payments may be made to Shepherd University via check or credit card. After registration is complete, students will pay their lesson rates directly to the instructor. Each instructor sets their own rates and schedules.
