We are excited that you have decided to join our dynamic community! Here, you will have the opportunity to build lasting friendships with fellow students. To ensure that your housing application process goes smoothly, listed below are the steps to apply for housing:

Housing Application Information

Spring 2025

Applications Open: October 15

  • Review the Resident Agreement
  • Log into the Good Living Portal
  • Complete the Housing Application
  • Residence Life staff will assign students to available spaces.
  • In mid-December, Residence Life will email your Shepherd email account to notify you of your placement.
  • New students move in January 11-12

Fall 2025

Applications Open: December 4

  • Review the Resident Agreement
  • Log into the Good Living Portal
  • Complete the Housing Application
  • New students select their own spaces beginning in mid-March; returning students will begin selection in mid-February. Applications received after May 1 will be assigned by Residence Life staff.
  • New students move in on August 21.

1. Pay Enrollment Deposit

Submitting your non-refundable enrollment deposit confirms your spot at Shepherd and grants you access to your student email, the housing application, course registration, and more! Enrollment deposit payments can be made at the Shepherd University Business Office in Ikenberry Hall, suite 214.

2. Activate Your Rail Account

3. Setup Your Shepherd Email Account

Log in to your student email using your username + @rams.shepherd.edu (student01@rams.shepherd.edu). You can find your username and set a password on RAIL.

4. Review Housing Options

After activating your Shepherd University email, you can review our housing options and choose the one that suits you best. Please note that the Dunlop & Printz Apartments and West Woods Suites are not available for first-year students. All Honors students have the option to live in Martin Hall.

5. Complete The 2024-25 Housing Application

The 2024-25 housing application can be submitted through the Good Living Portal. The Good Living Portal is the central place for everything related to Residence Life. You can find forms and information about your housing, meal plans, assignments, and roommate profiles here.
