Known for her warm, resonant voice, soprano, Bixiao Wang is a dynamic performer and educator. She currently serves as a vocal instructor at Shepherd University. Dr. Wang received her Doctor of Music degree in vocal performance from the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music. In addition, Dr. Wang gives private vocal lessons in a variety of genres, including classical and contemporary commercial music. Her approachable yet passionate style creates a fun, collaborative environment.
As a performer, her performances have been seen in many opera houses and theaters around the world. Dr. Wang has performed extensively on international stages in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Some of her notable roles include Rosina in The Barber of Seville, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Celia in Lucio Silla, and Captain Lovelock, Laurentia, Nella in Gianni Schicchi. Bixiao is also a contracted artist with the Charlottesville Opera. She has performed at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. on several occasions and received high acclaim.
Dr. Wang also holds a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music at Bard College and a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from the China Conservatory of Music. Bixiao Wang has won many honors and awards, including the first prize in the Hong Kong International Music Competition Opera Aria and the first prize in the Beethovinci International Music Competition. She is a vocal judge for the 2024 China Culture International Water Cube Cup Chinese Song Competition in Washington, D.C. In December this year, she will hold a solo concert at Carnegie Hall in New York.
