CAHSS Strategic Plan 2020-2025
Our purpose and our future
Shepherd University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences was launched in the fall of 2019 after a careful two-year academic restructuring exercise. In 2019-2020, Dr. Ann Marie Legreid, Associate Dean of the College, led a team of faculty and staff to create a Strategic Plan by articulating our mission and values statements and our core values, and conducting a S.W.A.T. analysis of our newly-formed college. Working with our peers from each of the nine departments/schools within our college, we identified four pathways to guide us to make sound decisions in curriculum and program development, professional development, fundraising initiatives, community engagement, external partnerships, and other areas.
Pathway I. The Student Experience: Provide an Innovative and Transformative Learning Experience for All Students.
Pathway II. The Faculty Experience: Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.
Pathway III. Ensure the long-term vitality and sustainability of the academic enterprise and Shepherd University.
Pathway IV: The Staff Experience: Foster and support a culture of excellence in service to the college.
Each of our four pathways includes goals, objectives, and strategies to realize our plan in the years ahead. Each fall, the college will identify goals for the year and assess the effectiveness of reaching those goals at the close of the academic year. Dr. Legreid and I thank all of the faculty and staff of our college for their careful contributions to assist in forming this plan.
Thank you for your interest in learning more about how we will invest our energy, time, and passions into the future of our college!
With sincere appreciation,
