In honor of ALL our Scholars in the College for 2022-23.
I would like to recognize and congratulate the outstanding students within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. I am happy that I was able to see quite a number of you at an in-person ceremony on May 6th last. I was proud to be able to present your accomplishments and celebrate your exemplary academics and hard work with you and your Families. You are extraordinary! I wish you all the best for the future and am with you and your families in spirit, and I cannot wait to see you again very soon!
Greetings from the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics we are committed to offering students opportunities to learn and grow as scientists, scholars, and citizens. You will find students in our college with a series of diverse, but related majors ranging from conceptual and theoretical fields to basic sciences. Students interested in pre-professional training, science education, and careers in traditional areas of science can be found in our classes as can students from every department on campus.
The goals of Shepherd University frame the courses and research within our school. We embrace the five core values of learning, engagement, integrity, accessibility, and community. In doing so we help prepare students to take their place in the world, not just as scientists and mathematicians, but as future leaders who possess a strong foundation in the liberal arts.
The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is home to four academic departments. In addition to students selecting majors in the College, other Shepherd students will complete courses in the College as part of the Core Curriculum. Our faculty works closely with majors and non-majors alike to foster their academic and creative growth in an effort to help prepare them for the ever-changing and complex world of the 21st century.
Shepherd is also working to expand its profile as a research institution, and in cooperation with the PBM Foundation is pleased and privileged to have established relationships with leading research scientists in the field of Photobiomodulation (PBM). These outstanding individuals will have a continuing relationship with the University as Adjunct Research Professors, allowing them to conduct research work in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics as part of the Shepherd faculty.
From undergraduate student-faculty research to off-site researchers, internships, and seminar discussions, our programs are rooted in active learning. The variety of research and collaborative efforts of the faculty is a testament to their dedication and motivation. Please take the time to explore all that the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics has to offer.
Yours truly,
Robert J. Warburton, Ph.D.
