College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Nursing
Welcome!
The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Nursing is committed to offering students opportunities to learn and grow as scientists, health professionals, scholars, and citizens. We offer a series of diverse but related majors ranging from conceptual and theoretical fields to basic sciences and clinical training.
The liberal arts vision of Shepherd University frames the courses and research within our programs. We help prepare students to take their place in the world, not just as scientists, nurses, and mathematicians, but as future leaders who possess a strong foundation in core liberal arts skills such as critical thinking, creativity, reasoning, and communication.
We are home to the Department of Natural and Physical Sciences, the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Engineering, and the School of Nursing. Each academic department provides student-faculty research, internships, and career opportunities to its students, preparing them for the ever-changing and complex world of the 21st century. Our commitment to the liberal arts curriculum supports students who are not only technical experts but creative innovators.
What is a liberal arts education and why does it matter?
