Master of Education in Educational Leadership

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership and two associated 15-credit, non-degree graduate certificates in Higher Education and Curriculum & Instruction are fully online and designed as complementary graduate options which can stand alone or can be applied to the Master of Education.

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership is a master’s program with 30 required total hours and two concentrations for education professional who fit into these categories:

Admissions Requirements:  Completion of an online Graduate application, earned a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, and provide official undergraduate transcripts and graduate (if applicable), a statement of professional goals associated with selected concentration (letter of intent), and three reference letters who can attest to the student’s ability to complete a graduate program and/or character as a professional educator.  

Upload admission documents to the application portal and have official college transcripts sent directly from the institutions via e-script (graduate-studies@shepherd.edu) or mail.

Educational Leadership Core – 18 credits 

  • EDLD 501: Leadership Theories
  • EDLD 502: Social Justice and Equity in Education
  • EDLD 511: Legal and Ethical Issues
  • EDLD 512: Organizational Change and Teamwork
  • EDLD 521: Assessment, Evaluation, and Evidence-Based Decision-Making
  • EDLD 600: Action Research; Prereq: Minimum 21 credit hours completed.

Higher Education Leadership Track – 12 credits (30 total) 

  • EDHE 530: Student Development Theory
  • EDHE 531: Helping and Advising
  • EDLD 513: Strategic Management
  • EDLD 522: Administrative Internship or MBA 517: Human Resources or MBA 532: Project Management

Curriculum and Instructional Leadership Track – 12 credits (30 total) 

  • EDCI 550: Advanced Curriculum Pedagogy I
  • EDCI 551: Advanced Curriculum Pedagogy II; Prereq: EDCI 550
  • EDCI 552: Differentiated Instruction
  • EDSL 541: School Leadership and Supervision
