Dr. Erica Rumbley
Dr. Erica Rumbley serves as a Clinical Faculty member in Music History and Collaborative Piano. She received a Ph.D. in Musicology, as well as Masters degrees in Musicology and Piano, from the University of Kentucky. Prior to coming to Shepherd University, she instructed courses and served as a Collaborative Pianist at both Boyce College in Louisville Kentucky and Ningxia University in Yinchuan, China.
Dr. Rumbley has published in the Journal of American Music and presented papers and lecture recitals at numerous College Music Society and American Musicological Society conferences. Her research interests include 19th and 20th century American music, as well as Chinese piano music and the composer Zhang Zhao. She is also beginning a study of the therapeutic uses of music with refugee and underprivileged populations.
As a pianist, Dr. Rumbley has performed widely as a collaborative artist and a soloist, and she takes great joy in the act of making music with others.
