SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Dr. Desmond Lawless, Shepherd University associate professor of health and physical education, attended the May 19 International Conference on Wellbeing in Elite Sport hosted by Leaders Performance Institute at the Manchester City, Etihad Campus, Manchester, United Kingdom.
The focus of the conference was mental health and psychological support to physical care and career transitions in high level performers. Attendees included performance directors from Sport New Zealand, Rowing Australia, Royal College of Music, USA Swimming, Welsh Rugby Union, and United States Tennis. Themes of the conference explored in seminar-style groups included “Where Does Wellness Begin and End in Your Organization,” “Steps to Developing a Culture of Wellness,” “Developing Resilience,” and “How Wellness is Set to Evolve in the Future.”
