SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Scarborough Society Art and Lecture Series will present “Astrobiology’s Three Big Questions” featuring William Kramer, Ph.D., on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m. in the Scarborough Library Reading Room. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture.
Kramer will lead a journey through astrobiology’s three big questions: how did life begin and evolve, what is our future in the universe, and is there life beyond Earth and how can we detect it? While the presentation will not answer any of these questions, it will explore the science and philosophy that drives them, and the amazing discoveries being made in the United States and worldwide.
Kramer is a retired wildlife biologist and administrator with a doctorate in political science. He conducts academic research, teaches at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, advises the Georgetown University Space Initiative, and is on the Scientific Council of the Alternative Planetary Futures Institute.
The Scarborough Society is a friends of the library organization sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation. Annual membership dues help support library acquisitions, technology, and programs. Membership is open to all interested supporters of the Scarborough Library.
