SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University is hosting its second annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour online fundraising event, on Thursday, March 25. The university-wide giving event challenges students, alumni, staff, faculty, parents, and friends to “leave their mark” by supporting campus programs that are near to their hearts.
“Gifts made during this Day of Giving support everything that makes Shepherd unique—from The Shepherd Fund, which provides vital financial support for virtually every aspect of the Shepherd University experience, to helping a specific department and organization close to donors’ hearts,” said Christine Meyer, director of annual giving.
There are several challenges set up to encourage individuals to participate. After Shepherd receives gifts from 200 donors on March 25, nearly $12,000 in matching money pledged by the Shepherd University Board of Governors and the Shepherd University Foundation will be unlocked.
Alumni are encouraged to donate between noon and 5 p.m. on March 25 to unlock another $500 for The Shepherd Fund. Thanks to another anonymous challenge donation, students also have the ability to earn a prize for their clubs and organizations. The student group with highest participation on Shepherd’s GiveCampus.com leaderboard will earn $250, and the second, third, and fourth highest will earn $100 each.
All gifts made between midnight and 11:59 p.m. on March 25 will count toward Shepherd’s Day of Giving. Anyone can participate by becoming an advocate, sharing a story, offering a challenge or matching grant, and giving a gift through a Shepherd University special donation page at GiveCampus.com.
Checks in support of Day of Giving can be mailed to Shepherd University Foundation, P.O. Box 5000, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
