Foundation’s Scarborough Society to visit National Book Festival

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Scarborough Society and the Shepherd University Foundation are sponsoring a bus trip to the 14th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, August 30.

The festival will feature more than 100 authors, poets, and illustrators in several pavilions. Notable names include Paul Auster, Ishmael Beah, Billy Collins, Kate DiCamillo, E.L. Doctorow, Jules Feiffer, Jack Gantos, Anne Hillerman, Siri Hustvedt, Molly Idle, Nina Khrushcheva, Louisa Lim, Alice McDermott, Claire Messud, Anchee Min, Sandra Day O’Connor, Dav Pilkey, Cokie Roberts, Lisa See, Mona Simpson, and Judith Viorst. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for the event.

A full-size motor coach will leave Shepherd University at 9:30 a.m. and return to Shepherdstown at 7:30 p.m. The cost of the trip is $35 and will include water, snacks, and fruit.
