Shepherd University accounting program receives faculty excellence award

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVThe Shepherd University accounting program received a new Accounting Faculty Excellence Award from CohnReznick LLP, a leading advisory, assurance, and tax firm. 

 The award marks the continuation of their support to Shepherd University, 

 Dr. Cindy Vance, associate professor of accounting at Shepherd, said accounting faculty are essential to ensuring that students have the knowledge and skills sought by employers. 

 “The accounting faculty are honored to have CohnReznick’s support to maintain the quality of Shepherd’s accounting program,” Vance said. “This partnership provides professional development funds for faculty to maintain a certified public accountant [CPA] license and to join professional accounting organizations for networking and staying abreast of changes in the accounting field.”    

 CohnReznick supported Shepherd’s accounting program in the past by creating more resources for students, setting them up for success in the accounting field once they graduate.  

 “CohnReznick gave me a wonderful opportunityto grow as an accountant and professional,” explained senior accounting major Timothy Johnson. “I would highly recommend other students jump at the opportunity to improvetheir skills.”   

 Senior accounting major Ian King concurred with the pivotal role that the firm has played in student development.
