SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV —
The Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education at Shepherd University will present “An Evening of West Virginia Stories with Adam Booth” on Thursday, February 22, at 7 p.m. in the Byrd Center auditorium. Before the show, there will be an open house of the archives from 5-7 p.m.
Booth has been researching the Byrd Center’s archives to craft a new story about Byrd. He blends traditional mountain folklore, music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia to create original, forward-thinking story artistry.
Booth is the 2022 West Virginia Folk Artist of the Year and has been awarded the Governor’s Arts Awards. He is a member of the Recording Academy and his recordings have received many national honors, including a Parents’ Choice Gold Award. He serves as Storyteller-In-Residence at Shepherd and is the founding artistic director of Speak Story Series.
