SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The final event in Shepherd University’s Frank X Walker Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence Project will be a showing of the film “Red Tails” on Friday, November 22, 7 p.m. at Reynolds Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Shown in partnership with the Shepherdstown Film Society, “Red Tails,” starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Terence Howard, tells the remarkable story of the Tuskegee Airmen of WWII who brought distinction to their corps in 1944 and helped win the war. The screenplay is by John Ridley, with the movie directed by Anthony Hemingway and produced by George Lucas.
Shepherd history professor Dr. Matthew Foulds, a member of the Appalachian Studies Board, will introduce the film and lead the discussion. Community members are invited to join the Shepherd University Appalachian Studies program and students as they continue their discussion of the Affrilachian influence and presence in the region.
