Paychecks

Employees are paid every other Friday. The University is required by law to make deductions from paychecks for federal and state income taxes and Social Security (and retirement if full-time). Employees should immediately notify their supervisors or the Payroll Office if they believe there is a problem with their paycheck. All employees are paid in arrears.

Direct Deposit of Paychecks

Effective October 1, 2013 all employees must select the option by which they wish to be paid, either Direct Deposit or West Virginia Pay Card. If an employee does not sign up for Direct Deposit, their pay will automatically be loaded onto a West Virginia Pay Card.

The West Virginia Pay Card is a reloadable Visa® prepaid card issued by Citi® Prepaid Services. No bank account or credit check is required. The card provides flexible and immediate access to your pay. You can withdraw cash at ATMs and financial institutions that display the Visa logo. There is also an option to use a Pre-Check to get cash for part or all of the balance.

Employees who choose Direct Deposit will be able to view their direct deposits online through the State Auditor’s Office Web site. You will also be able to see your W-2 at this site.  Click here for instructions for using this feature.
