Undergraduate Positions:
Resident Assistants – RAsResponsibilities: Support residents and foster positive living communities that promote student success. Application Information: Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will be available through the Residence Life website beginning November 2024. Interviews will occur in late January, and offers will be made to 30 student leaders in February 2025. Up to 4 RA positions are offered during the summer. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 2.0 semester GPA. Remuneration: Room and meal plan waiver, as your individual Financial Aid package allows. RAs are encouraged to speak with Financial Aid to determine any impacts. RAs who assist with extra projects or during University breaks are paid hourly. Office AssistantsResponsibilities: Provide excellent customer service, accurate information, package management, and other office functions. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Remuneration: $10/hour, maximum of 25 hours per week. Residence Hall Improvement Crew – RHICResponsibilities: Improving the condition of Shepherd University’s residence halls by painting, moving furniture, light cleaning, and more. Application Information: Apply through the Shepherd University Employment Website and select “Student Positions.”Positions are posted in February for the upcoming summer. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Must be either (1) enrolled in summer school for at least 6 credit hours or (2) enrolled for Fall 2025 classes. Administrative & Overnight Conference Assistants – ACAs & OCAsResponsibilities: Checking in and out of conference attendees, preparing rooms, maintaining inventories, and more. OCAs will also provide on-call overnight support for these same groups. Application Information: Apply through the Shepherd University Employment Website and select “Student Positions.” Positions are posted in the Spring for the upcoming summer. Available positions vary based on current needs. ACAs may choose to hold the ACA and OCA positions simultaneously. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Must be either (1) enrolled in summer school for at least 6 credit hours or (2) enrolled for Fall 2025 classes. Prior experience preferred. Remuneration: $11/hour, maximum of 25 hours per week. Graduate Positions:
Hall Directors – HDsResponsibilities: (The duties of the Hall Director include, but are not limited to, those listed). (1) Supervise the daily functions of Shepherd University’s residence halls, including a staff of Resident Assistants (RAs). (2) Establish and maintain communication with students living in the residence halls/apartments through individual outreach and community meetings. (3) Develop knowledge of campus and community resources to ensure timely and efficient referrals when appropriate. (4) Respond to all inquiries and concerns from students, staff, and families regarding the residence halls. (5) Maintain effective working relationships with the Department of Facilities Management, Counseling Services, and other University departments. Application Information: Apply through the Shepherd University Employment Website and select “Student Positions.”Positions are posted annually and vary based on current needs. HDs are provided with an apartment, meal plan, access to free laundry, and staff/faculty parking. HDs are permitted to have a partner live with them. Candidates who are admitted and enrolled in a Shepherd University graduate program are preferred. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Remuneration: (12 Month Position) $12/hour, maximum of 25 hours per week. The position includes an 18-credit waiver for Shepherd University graduate courses per academic year. Practicum & InternshipPracticum and internship opportunities are available to interested graduate students looking to gain experience in Residence Life, Housing Assignments, Facilities Management, Conference Services, and more.
