MISSION
Established by the University Assembly, the purposes of the Student Life Council (SLC) include:
- establishing campus-wide student life policies,
- providing for extracurricular programming,
- developing policies and procedure for the student conduct system, and
- setting standards for and the registering of student clubs and organizations in conjunction with the Student Government Association (SGA)
Student Life Council recommendations are communicated to the Administrative Council and/or the President. The Student Life Council Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, or other appointed member will serve as a member of the Administrative Council.
MEMBERSHIP
The Student Life Council’s membership includes:
- the Vice President of Student Affairs and Director of Community Relations or designee,
- four Student Affairs Professionals appointed by the Vice President of Student Affairs and Director of Community Relations,
- two Campus Service Professionals appointed by the Associate Vice President for Campus Services,
- four faculty, one from each college elected and/or appointed by the Dean of that college, each for a two-year term without succession;
- College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
- College of Business
- College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- College of Nursing, Education, and Health Sciences
- eleven students:
- an appointed representative of the Student Government Association,
- a representative of the Program Board
- eight undergraduate students elected at large in a campus-wide election from the following categories:
- Freshman Class Representative
- Sophomore Class Representative
- Junior Class Representative
- Senior Class Representative
- Transfer Student Representative
- Non-Residential Representative
- Undergraduate-at-Large
- Undergraduate-at-Large
- Graduate student, elected by the GSCE Deans Student Advisory Council for one-year terms who may serve two successive terms
MEETINGS
Student Life Council meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 4:00 PM
