Community Service
The Office of Student Community Services promotes, organizes, and assists campus outreach initiatives by effectively placing individual students, groups, and academic and social organizations in situations that embrace learning through service. We promote the value of learning through service by providing every student, who desires to expand their education, by creating effective experiences in the community.
Relay For Hope Award
Awarded to a Relay For Life of SU member who coordinates and develops successful Relay For Life events & fundraisers, organizes and runs effective Relay For Life meetings, builds strong relationships between the campus and Shepherdstown community, plays a large role in planning the large Relay fundraiser and is a leader among peers who encourages peers to excel in Relay For Life. The 2021 Relay For Hope Award is presented to Zach Ridenour.
Zach is an active member of the Relay For Life of SU Committee and has shown dedication to making Relay For Life a fun and active part of the Shepherd community. He is committed to the mission of Relay For Life and has demonstrated this through his creative and inspiring fundraising ideas. He works hard to motivate and inspire his peers!
Leadership in Community Service
Awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional involvement in community service, through the office of Student Community Service. Completed an exceptional amount of community service hours during an academic year. Encouraged others to become involved in community service opportunities/created community service opportunities. Active in at least one community service based organization/club, tied to the Office of Student Community Service. The 2021 Leadership in Community Service Award is presented to William Prudnick.
William is an active member of Rotaract, Alpha Phi Omega, and participated in the 2021 Local Alternative Spring Break Initiative. William has been an active leader on campus and has completed 35 service hours since the beginning of the 2021 academic year!
