What is TRIO Student Support Services?
TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO/SSS) is a federally funded grant program through the United States Department of Education. TRIO Student Support Services serves undergraduate students that are first-generation college students (neither parent has earned a bachelor’s degree), income-eligible and/or have a documented disability.

Mission
The mission of TRIO Student Support Services at Shepherd University is to provide opportunities for academic development, to assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their post-secondary education with the goal of increasing the college retention and graduation rates of its participants. TRIO/SSS serves all program participants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or age.
